About ME

When I was very young, I practiced oil painting and enjoyed it immensely. Then I grew up, graduated from Dickinson College and became a lawyer. I thought law was where I should be and persisted in it for years despite the fact that I hated it. The best part of this time in my life was meeting and marrying my husband Lynn. At 39, I became a mother and really did not want to go back to my law office. Still, it was not until age 42, when I was diagnosed with cancer, I knew I would never go back to a job I hated. I was not going to waste another moment pursuing a career that would not allow my spirit to sing.

As a cancer survivor I savor each moment of this precious life. With my family’s support I now spend every second I can in my studio. Each day brings me new surprises as I and my art evolve together. For example, a couple years ago a large shelf of bottles crashed to the floor in my studio. As I stared at the cornucopia of colorful glass shattered all over my floor, I was inspired to create broken glass mosaics. As time went by, I added polymers to my mosaics and recently I have begun painting on them. I can’t help myself; I am so attracted to the iridescence of glass.

My love for making something new and original out of something old was encouraged by my 1840’s farmstead. Every day I come across an antiquated object which begs to be transformed into art: windows, screens, lids, funnels, cans, bottles…you name it. Spray paint is especially gratifying to work with allowing me to achieve a variety of color effects on these weathered treasures. Even I am amazed when I am finished!

My farm consistently offers me gifts to repurpose artistically for those who want them. I still love to oil paint - my favorite subjects right now are pets, beaches, and water scenes. And so, here I am - a former attorney, now a reborn artist, who couldn’t be more fulfilled. My everyday life is a fascinating kaleidoscope of color, form and creativity. Thank you for your interest in me and my work.
